Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nodaway County

IT TAKES LITTLE TO BE

BIG

At the heart of our organization are incredible adults making a positive impact on the lives of youth. Are you ready to become a defender of potential?

WHAT IS A MENTOR?

A mentor (Big) helps a mentee (Little) navigate through life’s experiences as they strive for a successful future. Our Bigs play an important role in the development of their Littles by serving as a consistent presence in their lives and supporting them in setting and achieving goals that help ignite their full potential.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

To be a Big, you must be 19 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, access to reliable transportation and be willing to commit to a minimum one year volunteer experience, 18 months if you are a college student that leaves for the summer.

WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT?

  • 2-3 times per month, up to weekly for 1-2 hours per outting
  • 12 month commitment

As a Big, you’ll be matched with a Little that shares your interests. You’ll do what you’d do with any other friend, go out to eat, see a movie, play catch, do crafts or just hang out.
